Bamboo Pen
Wacom Bamboo Pen
The Wacom Bamboo Pen is a terrific digital drawing system for budding artists and anyone who wants the convenience of a digital pen without all the extra bells and whistles that come with the more expensive pen and tablet sets. In short, this is a fantastic starter system that will allow users a chance to use the digital pen for tasks like marking up documents or as a testing ground for artists who aren’t quite sure if they want to make the transition from traditional mediums to a digital drawing system. However, let there be no mistake about it: the Wacom Bamboo Pen digital drawing system offers great features that make this a value packed system.
The tablet that comes with the Bamboo Pen is 9.8”x 6.9” with an active area of
5.8”x 3.6”. It is reversible for right handed users. The surface of the digital drawing pad is slightly textured giving the feel of a pen on paper.
The pen included with this digital drawing system is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in your hand. It has 512 levels of pressure sensitivity and two switches that are customizable. The pressure sensitivity allows the user to emulate natural brush strokes while the tablet and software integrate the feel of the artist’s movements. The pen is battery free and designed to feel and act like a standard pen.
To top off this great bundle, Wacom has included Corel Painter Essentials 4.0 which is a wonderful program for creating digital artwork and working with photographs. Corel Painter Essentials 4.0 is powerful software with extensive abilities to edit photos or create unique artwork. Artistic users have the ability to select from a variety of tools that simulate different types of brushes, charcoals, etc… One can choose from a variety specific within each style. For instance, if you’d like to work with charcoal, you can use tools that produce the effects of natural pencils and soft or hard charcoal sticks.
The width and strength of each pen stroke is directly related to pen pressure, just as if you were using traditional media. Another spectacular feature of Corel Painter Essentials 4.0 is that you can select the type of material you wish to create your artwork on. Selections range from papers of different textures to canvases for painting on. The combined ability to choose the tools and various materials surfaces allows an artist to grasp the feel of their preferred medium. Refinements of tools and materials can vary from the feel of pencil on paper to chalk on a sidewalk.
The Wacom Bamboo Pen comes boxed with the pen, tablet and software described above. The pen and tablet can be used within Office programs to mark up documents, take handwritten notes, sign important letters, etc… Combined with the included Corel Painter Essentials 4.0 this is a value packed kit. The software alone costs more than this package deal. Oh and I forgot to mention, the software also includes several learning resources; it has a tutorial based guidebook, video tutorials and example files to help you get the most out of your software. Corel also has a great area for Corel Painter Essentials 4.0 online for even more information and ideas. This is definitely a great starter package for budding artists, personal and small business use!
