I’m a digital artist, or at least, aspiring. Animation, game design, these are things I’m looking to go into for my career. Are there certain types of pads that are better for drawing then others?
I’ve been looking into Bamboo but I’m not really sure, if you use or have a friend that uses a digital drawing pad please tell me what one you have and why you like it.

i’m just starting to get graphic design. I was looking to buy a digital drawing pad that works for a mac. my budget is between 0 – 0. Any recommendations?
I’m a talented illustrator, and I was thinking of switching over to a Wacom digital drawing tablet instead of skanning my traditional drawings (I’m making a cartoon). Is it really hard to get used to using a drawing pad, or does it basically feel the same as using a pen and paper?
If anyone have EXPERIENCES USING these products then please explain what’s the difference between these two and which one is better and easy to use for a first timer?
Are there any decent Graphics Tablets out there that will work with a computer running on Windows Vista?
I prefer the wacom brand… do most of the new tablets work with Vista?
I have an older one which was meant for Windows 98, that isn’t compatable.
I mean the kind of Graphics Tablet, as in the machine that has a pen, that acts like paper.
I was thinking about getting one of those graphics tablets, but I’m unsure if they’re worth the money.
I usually just draw a picture by hand, pencil and paper, scan it into Photoshop Cs3, and then ink it.
But does a graphics tablet really improve the quality or make it easier?
Can anyone show me any comparisons between scanning and inking and a graphics tablet?
Are they worth the money?
Is it better to use?
i am hoping to buy a graphics tablet sometime soon and i just dont know what to get D:
i need to start saving up now and like everything, the prices seem to vary A LOT
thanks x
i dont know were to start, i would use it for drawings and things like that mostly

The Wacom Intuos4 large tablet and pen is excellent for creative professionals. The digital drawing pad has a generous 102.5 square inches of workspace. It was designed with trained professionals in mind that are used to working from the elbow or shoulder.
The refined pen packaged with this digital drawing pad simulates a natural feel. It has 2048 points of pressure sensitivity and an amazing 60 degrees of tilt recognition allowing great accuracy. Even a feather touch of one gram will register with this precision pen which gives it the natural feel of creating brush strokes or working with traditional markers and pens. In precision mode, the pressure sensitivity dynamically changes the size of the pen stroke which in turn gives a more realistic response to the artist’s movements and gestures.
The tablet has many features. One of nicest things about it is its ergonomics. The pad is thin and just slightly sloped. A palm rest makes for comfortable writing on any area of the digital drawing pad. The pen is also ergonomically designed to reduce stress. It has a contoured barrel for easy grip, which reduces stress on your wrist as well.
One unique feature of this digital drawing pad is the finger sensitive touch ring. This ring helps you navigate through drawings, programs etc… The middle of the ring has a button that toggles in four positions that can be set for different functions.
The tablet also has ExpressKeys that you customize to your own liking for various functions in different programs. Quite unique to this tablet is the illuminated display area which changes as you switch between different settings so that you know exactly which settings are active. Glancing over at the display is sure to save a great deal of time and take some of the guess work out of creating artwork.
Speaking of switching, the Wacom Inuos4 is designed for both left hand and right hand use. What’s more is that there are numerous accessories that you can purchase for an even more personal feel. For instance, there are different pen styles that emulate various pens (including an inking pen). There is an airbrush accessory that feels and acts like a traditional airbrush. These accessories all help creative professionals customize their digital drawing pad with implements they are used to creating with.
Another customizable feature of the Wacom Intuos4 is the fact that users select the software of their choice as part of the package. After purchase, users go to the Wacom site and can download two of three programs listed: Adobe Photoshop® Elements 7, Autodesk SketchBook Express® 2010 and Corel Painter™ Sketch Pad. Users also can download Nik® Color Efex Pro™ WE6 and Wacom Brushes 3.0.
The details and customizable features of this digital drawing pad and pen make it an excellent choice for professionals. The available accessories help artists keep a natural level of comfort as they create. For photographers, the precision that the pen allows gives the professional results they expect. The Wacom Intuos4 is an excellent choice for creative professionals!
Wacom’s Bamboo Craft CTH461, digital drawing pad system is by far the richest feature packed system on the market for home and small business users that want to enjoy the full spectrum of a Graphics Tablet. It is a pen and touch, digital drawing system that comes with an extensive bundle of software. TheCTH461 is called the Bamboo Craft, for several reasons. Its pen has 1024 levels of sensitivity for precise drawings. It’s wireless, battery free and has two additional switches. The switches can be custom programmed for using the pen like a normal mouse.
Additionally, the pen is ergonomically designed for comfortable holding. Wacom has created this pen to be as much like a regular writing instrument as possible. In fact, just like using a pencil, you turn this pen on its head and it becomes an eraser. Many customer reviews are available, Read them here
The drawing pad surface is specially designed to give the feel of drawing on paper. Again, Wacom has created this digital Input system to be as much like normal writing and drawing as possible.
The Wacom Bamboo CTH461 comes bundled with excellent full feature software programs: Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and Corel Painter Essentials 4. Adobe Photoshop Elements is used primarily for touching up editing and working with photos. Corel Painter Essentials is great for creating artwork and turning photos into paintings. Additionally, Wacom has included Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 WE3—a software program that adds numerous filters to Adobe Photoshop to enhance photographic abilities. Together, all this software sold separately would cost the consumer over several hundred dollars. In fact the cost of these software programs would be higher than the cost of the Bamboo Craft CTH461 digital drawing system.
To sweeten this deal even more, Wacom has also bundled in a DVD with 26 video lessons by Jane Conner-Ziser. She is an expert in digital imaging. The lessons are geared towards digital scrapbooking, but you are sure to pick up some fantastic tips watching her videos.
The touch functionality of the Wacom Digital drawing pads is versatile and customizable. It is used pretty much like the touch pad on a laptop, but with a few extra bells and whistles. You can use two finger commands to do things like zoom in and out. You can scroll, rotate your items, etc… with simple finger sliding. There are also express keys right on the tablet that you can use for left and right clicks, forward and back movements etc…
The system (for Windows and Mac) includes the Bamboo Craft tablet, the Bamboo Craft pen, a Quick Start guide, an installation CD (which includes driver software, interactive tutorial, and user’s manual), software DVD, and a DVD with 26 scrapbooking lessons from digital photography expert Jane Conner-Ziser. This digital drawing pad comes with the technological experience and proven reputation of the Wacom line of digital graphics tablets. For the price, which is lower than the bundled software, I don’t think you can find a better deal on a digital drawing system.
